About Us

setiakawangolf: Malaysia; Setiakawan Golf is a loose organization of golf enthusiasts whose interests and focus is GOLF. It was formed through the iniative of Lt Col Ramli Kinta (R) who together with Lt Jen Dato Ghani Abdullah ( R ), Lt Jen Dato' Abd Ghafir Hamid, Lt Kol Zainal Yan ( R ), Saudara Hamzah Massod and Lt Kol Kamaruddin Serkawi decided to start a weekly congregation of golfers on selected golf courses in the Klang Valley primarily to socialize through golfing activities. With the blessing of the former Army Land Commander, Lt Gen Abdul Ghani bin Abdullah (R), who initially acted as adviser and now the President, they embarked on inviting interested golfers to join Whilst initially the invitation was conveniently extended to retired members of the Armed Forces, it was promptly extended to other enthusiasts irrespective of vocation and profession. Most if not all are retirees or at least retired from their main and initial careers.

Handicap

Setiakawan realizes the sensitivities and enormity of having a bona fide handicap. Whilst realizing that golf is a game for Gentlemen, to avoid unhappiness and to ensure Fairness Setiakawan has formulated its own handicapping mechanism..

Setiakawan has entrusted a Handicapping Committee to ensure that members’ handicaps are current within Setiakawan golfing competition. In this effort the Committee has agreed on a set of formula which is explained in Annex C.

Committee

The Committee is set up to assist the President and the Golf Convenor in organizing golfing activities and if need be, other activities which may involve members. The selection of the Committee Members are based on a consensus amongst members with the blessing of the President. The current permanent structure of the committee is shown under our logo in the Header

Members

Members are co-opted on participating in any organized golfing competition, normally weekly. His or her pariculars will be recorded and subsequently entered into Setiakawan’s Membership List. It is imperative that members be contactable, through any form. Thus members are required to extend to the committee their preferred means of being contactable.

Club Competition

Setiakawan Golf Competition are divided its weekly competition and periodical competitions which are deemed Majors. The competion are:

Weekly. The Weekly Games are organized ‘weekly’ on selected golf courses. The criteria in selection is that the courses are accessible ( easily identified and within one hour to reach), affordable, friendly (buggied, caddied and forgiving to errant golfers)
Monthly
Setiakawan Masters.
Setiakawan Annual Golf Competition.
The Setiakawan International Masters.

Conclusion

This website is accessible to members only. Changes to its contents would only be made by members empowered by the President. These members would be issued password for the access and entry for changes to his or her portfolio and responsilities..

This Website is the sole responsibility and ownership of Setiakawan Golf and would remain so until otherwise decided by the President.
